Joyful Noise

I stole the title from the great Paul Fleischman, but it describes perfectly the situation here in Maryland. We are visiting my son and his family of four boisterous, happy, beautiful boys: ages 8, 6, 5, and 3. Today we are taking the 8 year old to see a production of The Little Mermaid at a children’s theater in Frederick. It’s his birthday treat, though his birthday was December 29! Fortunately, he is a patient child, and anticipation is part of the experience. My husband and I like to share experiences with the grandchildren.  There’s not much they need, their wants are few. So, finding things to do together: hikes, birdwatching, picnics at the lake–that’s what we do. We make memories.
